INTRODUCTION
Georgina Revilla was born in Santiago, Cuba. In 1960, at the age of ten, Georgina and her family fled to Miami, Florida. It was during those difficult times when her love of art transformed to more than just a creative hobby she did during her free time. Art became her escape, her safe haven. She was able to connect her feelings and express what she couldn't as Spanish was her only verbal language, but through art she found a new voice. A voice that would lead to many opportunities!
Through art she was able to receive a full scholarship to Florida International University where she studied Fine Arts and Art Education from K-12. She became an Art teacher and taught all grade levels. Not only did she teach children during the day, but she also taught Adult Art Education at night. She devoted much of her time to teaching art to others, but the ones she devoted almost all her time were her two children. She worked very hard teaching art day and night to help her children excel and achieve their dreams. They were her number one priority, and though art was her passion, her children became her first loves and her creative, artistic side came second. Although, she wasn't painting as much as she wanted to, she was able to share her creative side in the classroom and enjoyed watching her students flourish and grow as artists. Many received scholarships as she once did and continued to study art. Her children grew, as children do, and she proudly watched them reached their goals.
Well, the “teaching” years passed, forty to be exact, and it was time for her to finally RETIRE and return to her PASSION! Georgina enjoys painting with pastels, charcoal, water color, acrylic, and oil on canvas, as well as printing on linoleum. She enjoys painting still life, landscapes and animals as well. She is inspired by the world around her and hopes to inspire others through her art and vision!
